Dama Montalvo was a Human Jedi Knight during the time of the Clone Wars. Apprenticed to the Duros Jedi Master Cei Vookto, Dama accompanied Master Vookto on a number of missions on the edges of the Republic. When the Clone Wars started, Dama accompanied Cei back to the Jedi Temple on Coruscant. There, Cei took command as general of troop company. Together, they fought against Separatist forces in battle.

Unfortunately, during the fighting Master Vookto was killed and became one with the Force. Retreating from battle, Dama joined Jedi Masters Mace Windu, Yoda, Tholme and others for Cei's funeral on Lianna in the Tion Cluster. Afterwards, it was decided that Dama would accompany Master Ki-Adi-Mundi as he took charge of Master Vookto's troops. Many Jedi were lost in the chaos of the Clone Wars and unfortunately Dama Montalvo's master was one to become one with the Force.

At the conclusion of the Clone Wars, Dama Montalvo managed to survive Order 66 as Darth Sidious revealed himself to the Jedi and declared himself Emperor of the galaxy. However, Dama was not so lucky in the weeks following the surprise attack against the Jedi. Scattered throughout the galaxy, the Jedi had become enemies of the new Empire and were hunted down in what came to be known as the Jedi Purge. The Emperor's new minion and Dark Lord of the Sith himself took personal responsibility for finding Jedi survivors. Dama Montalvo managed to survive the betrayal of the clonetroopers, but he couldn't run far enough and was eventually delivered to Darth Vader on Coruscant.
